Since you already know how to get into the windows registry using the run command in the start menu. I'm going to show you how to manually backup windows registry.

Step 1: Click on File

Step 2: Click on Export

Step 3a: Type in a filename
Step 3b: In the bottom section, you can see that you can select the entire registry or just a particular branch. In my example, I am saving the ENTIRE registry.

Step 4: You should have a .reg in the location you save the file to

Now you have a copy of the registry!

This may come off as somewhat technical, but some people have asked if there is a way to access the registry directly. I must warn you though, that the registry is very sensitive to deletion and restorations - so use at your own risk!

Step 1: Click on the Start Button

Step 2: Click on Run...
Step 3: Type "regedit" and Click OK

Step 4: You should see the Registry Editor

And that's all there is to it! Be very careful at this point, it is very easy to just delete items and really screw up your system.
